Assessing the Students

May 4, 2008

After the students receieved training on Inspiration, they were ready to use the program.  On two seperate days, they were asked to complete an ECR question.  Each day, they were presented with an ECR question from a section out of their World History textbooks.  Students had 20 minutes to read the section, 20 minutes to create a graphic organizer using Inspiration, and 20 minutes to write their essay answer.

Since the surveyor was not the students teacher, there were incentives involved to motivate the students.  First, they were instructed that this project would provide them with knowledge and practice to help them become better writers.  In addition, they were rewarded with 15 extra credit points by their social studies teacher.
